The company was established by the decree of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the ruler of the Emirate. Aqaar is a merger of two governmental bodies: the Department of Private Properties (established in 1999) and the Public Corporation for Real Estate Investments (established in 2002).
