KİPTAŞ was established in 1987 under the name İMAR WEIDLEPLAN with the aim of developing zoning and architectural projects in cooperation with foreign investors. On March 8, 1995, KİPTAŞ, as a subsidiary of the Istanbul Municipality, completed its operations and was renamed Istanbul Konut İmar Plan Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., and later became known as Kiler Gayrimenkul Yatırım Ortaklığı A.Ş.
KİPTAŞ has built more than 80,000 houses in various regions of the city and also provides consulting services. With the new leadership that took office in August 2019, KİPTAŞ has defined its vision for creating unique housing projects accessible to various groups of the population.
KİPTAŞ has completed four eco-friendly social housing projects consisting of 2,095 residential units. The company also holds auctions, including online auctions, and the proceeds go towards urban transformation and social housing projects.
