GUNKON Construction was founded in 1987 as GUNBAR Construction Ltd. in partnership and operated in the market until 1999. In 1999, the main shareholder, Mehmet Şefik Güngör, founded GUNKON Construction.

The company's main activity was the construction of factories from scratch for foreign investors and large Turkish industrialists. In addition to building factories, schools, villas, and multi-story residential buildings were also constructed.
